How to Know If Your Business Idea Is Actually Good

The Question Most People Get Wrong

Most people ask: do I think this is a good idea? That's the wrong question. The right ones: Do other people have the problem I'm solving? Are they actively looking for a solution? Are they willing to pay for it — from me specifically?

Step One: Name the Problem Before the Solution

People don't search for products. They search for relief from problems. Not "social media manager" but "why is nobody seeing my posts." Name the specific, painful problem in the words your ideal client would use.

Step Two: Find Out If Others Have This Problem

Google it. Read comments on YouTube and TikTok in your space. Join communities where your ideal client hangs out. Talk to real people.

Step Three: The Willingness to Pay Test

Look for existing paid solutions. Talk price in your research conversations. Make a direct offer — the most honest test.

Step Four: The Honest Self-Assessment

Am I genuinely good at this? Can I deliver results? Am I willing to do this for years? Does it fit the life I'm building?

What Good Validation Looks Like

Three to five real conversations confirming the problem is real. One or two offers received positively. Evidence people pay for something in this space.

Not sure if your idea is ready? That's what the Mirror Method is for — free, about 15 minutes. Already clear and just need the thing built? Take the quiz.
